Discreet vs. Batch Process Manufacturing

There are many software packages out there that call themselves “Manufacturing Software”, but only a few written for the batch process manufacturer.  Don’t be fooled by companies trying to sell you discreet software if you need batch process software.  Promises that discreet software can work for you will only waste your time and money. 
Discreet software is designed using eaches.  For example, if you are a bicycle manufacturer, you need each of the following: a frame, wheels, pedals, chain, handlebars etc.
You are a batch process manufacture if you use a recipe or a formula to make your products.  Common process industries include: Food, cosmetics, paint, chemical, plastic, and ink.

Special needs for process manufacturing include:

Multiple units of measure (lbs, kilos, gallons, liters, cc, totes, drums etc.)

Multiple package options for the same formula
Loss factors/yield

Physical Properties (VOC, Solids, Ph etc.)

Nutritional Properties
Serial/Lot control
