About the Authors
Lester Long developed and programmed the complete Color Pro training course. He was
formally an Applications Engineer at ColorTec, specializing in the support of the ColorTec-PCM line
of instruments and Windows software.
Chris Longfield is the ColorTec Webmaster and is responsible for development and
implementing all aspects of the color-tec.com web site. Chris is Technical Manager of
the ColorTec Color Products Group.
Eric Ogden created all of the original art in Color Pro. He is an artist, commercial
Photographer and film maker. His latest film, "The Paperboy" is in production.
Jim DeGroff conceived, developed, scripted and edited Color Pro. He is the founder and President of ColorTec. He earned a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Research Management from Cornell University. He has more than twenty-five years experience in the industrial use of color, with specific contributions in controlling the color process from concept and design through production and merchandising in the Paint, Plastics, Cosmetics, Textile, Ink and Printing, Food and Chemical Industries. He holds numerous patents covering colorant compounds and specialty computerized devices. He specializes in the review of industrial coloring operations and the use of computers as an electronic merchandising aid in decorative materials.
Prior to forming ColorTec in the 1984, Mr. DeGroff held senior positions with CAL/INK-TENNECO/NUODEX (now Huls, Creanova) and Applied Color Systems (now Datacolor). Active in many professional organizations dealing with color, he was a Chairholder and past member of the Board of Directors Color Marketing Group (CMG) and acted as a technical resource while leading the CMG delegation to the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC). At ISCC he is a past member of the Board of Directors and has held several Chair positions. He is also a member of ASTM (E-12, Appearance of Materials), a member of the U.S. National Committee of C.I.E., a senior member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), and Professional Member of The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).
He has delivered papers to the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology, Society of Plastics Engineers, American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, Gravure Technical Association, Canadian Paint and Coating Association, Textile Federation of Canada and the American Society for Testing and Materials, Cosmetic Industry Seminars. He has presented papers at seminars and conferences sponsored by Clemson University, University of Manchester (UK), North Carolina State and Rutgers University. Additional papers were presented to the Instrument Society of America, M.S. Chambers Wallcoverings Conference, Canadian Textile Seminar, and numerous industry panels. Currently Mr. DeGroff offers practical seminars and training in color technology and offers consulting in the color and process manufacturing field.
